School Board’s on the legal hot seat about the Vocal Music Association

It’ll be fun to see the tape of last night’s special meeting:

Study  Session on Fundraising  and School-Connected Organizations

a. The  Board of  Education will  conduct  a Study  Session on fundraising  and  school connected organizations in order to guide future policies and procedures, as presented.

Too bad there was no staff report. Hopefully they will reign in such quasi-private monstrosities as the Burbank High School VMA. Anyone could see years ago that both it and “Glee” were accidents waiting to happen. That’s what this is about.

Unfortunately, occasions such as last night come from the attorneys. Not the Burbank community.

One week ago, last Thursday the California Supreme Court ruled that communications mentioning government business are subject to disclosure as part of a Public Records Request.

Some school employees were critical of Mr. semi for posting Court filings of various blather from officials in the vocal music world at Burbank High.

When filed in with Court Documents it’s not necessary to make a request.

Also, many communications from union leaders are now Public Record.

It’s a fantastic decision, which could “semi” reverse Rogers v Burbank in some matters. Much for the courts now to sort out when it comes to the four corners of the decision.

Wouldn’t it be great to see an exception to the limitations imposed by Rogers v Burbank get used to open up Rogers’ own phone per city business?

Maybe we can also learn what all those council meeting emails and conversations are all about.
