The article goes on to mention that this number involves the senior class, but it still allows the BUSD to get away with not playing straight about what’s going on here.
That lofty, hoped-for number would only cover the percentage of 12th-graders who end up graduating in June (or after finishing remedial summer school, which they’re now being pushed into), after starting class in September.
It is NOT Burbank’s high school graduation rate, which — as always — rests about in the mid-seventies. So why don’t they call this figure what it actually is?
The grade 9-12 completion rate is the really important goal and number here.
