The “We Love Burbank!” Facebook page allowed one prayer to get posted, but banned another

Mayors-Prayer-Breakfast-1

Just heard from a tipster that the official/unofficial “Our City of Burbank is Just So Wonderful!” Facebook page has allowed some right wing “Prayer to our Police” to remain on their site after a bit of dispute, but quickly removed another prayer that apparently blessed the notion of BlackLivesMatter and peacefulness among men.

Apparently it wasn’t religious enough for them:

Another post/slash was just removed. It was removed because it was attempting to make a political statement under the guise of a prayer of remembrance and well wishes.

Says who? Like an obvious paean to the cops under the garb of religious devotion isn’t political? Talk about that other one pushing a pro-cop agenda. Mark Fuhrman couldn’t have muttered it better. Let us pray, yes.

Guess the idea of “well wishes” only applies to that which you wish well, eh? And which in Burbank means not Black people or the administration of a sense of grace and understanding among the police force —  supposedly what the censored prayer was all about.

We haven’t seen it yet, but might print it if we do. Anyone have a copy of that banned prayer?

Maybe the Burbank page could transcribe those prayers they use at the city council meetings and post them. They are the prayers that say stuff like Oh great one we thank you for our wonderful council members and their great wisdom that makes Burbank such a great place blah blah blah.

Lisa Komorowski I can’t even imagine what they go through. I don’t know any of the officers here in BPD just see them in passing and they have all been so sweet.

I love how they consider it to be “war” if there’s any dissent or questioning going on about their little prayer.

The BPD btw is considered to be a cush job as compared to most agencies, and BY the other agencies. Unlike LA or a real metropolitan police department, the BPD’s job is super easy.

    ..

Keep our Police Officers from harm today,
grant each officer good judgment & wisdom,
acting in proper balance with each situation faced,
fill each heart with courage and understanding,
fill their spirit with strength to do what is right & needed.
Protect each Officer from harm as they serve us.
If they must fire a weapon, make their shot sure & true.
Bless the Police as they protect us and risk their lives
to keep us safe and secure.

    God Bless our BPD

RE: The 3400 Block of W Magnolia Blvd.
I’m surprised that the 3400 block on Magnolia is not on Burbank Facebook?
Adrian D. formally of “Burbank Books and Antiques, also a resigned Magnolia Park Merchants Association ex board member.
Visited the 3400 block last week.
After negatively blogging about the “No Parking Problems”, saying that it’s just a matter of time before all the “Collectible and Antique stores are history!
Adrian actually went up and down the block venting about how glad that he is not being part of this dis functional block anymore!
One dealer, after seeing him go inside Romancing The Bean, after he went into different stores asking questions about Romancing The Bean? Then goes there and comes out with food ! One dealer told Adrian that he wasn’t welcome in her store anymore. I think his mission that day was to stir the pot and cause more chaos?
One Merchant on the block pretends to be Kerry’s friend actuallky called the health department on her several times, while patronizing her coffee shop on a daily basis!
Too bad I’m sworn to secrecy!
I would love to tell who this man is on the block! “He is a store owner.
Also, how about Kerrys next door neighbors (both sides)!
Both neighbors have the same nick name for her and it’s “not pretty”!
One pretends to be her friend. He is so two faced to everybody else on the block! the other just flat out despises her.
Nothing phony about one of the two!

  6. Faux Fuddy Luddy

SHE IS ALSO OPENING ANOTHER BUSINESS, WITH A BAR, JUST DOWN THE BLOCK/// FUNNY, I DIDNT SEE THE PLANNING BOARD EVEN REVIEWING THAT ONE . SCARY KERRY STRIKES AGAIN

Every field in life has the good guys and the not so good guys. Honest police officers are to be respected. Many citizens would risk their own lives to help the police in an emergency. I’ve seen it. It was beautiful!
Burbank has a few officers who have behaved in a less than acceptable manner. This so wrecks it for the other police trying to do a respectable job.
The dispute on the 3400 block of Magnolia Blvd. was not given the attention it deserved the last few years. Too many people (police and city council) have allegiances in Burbank . It really puts the person who is out of the loop in a terrible spot. Unfair politics is saying it mildly. Follow the recent injustice to a merchant. The entire saga is sickening.

3400 block no longer sees any parking patrols.
Magnolia Merchant member (Adrian) said he joined to settle things down. In reality, he tells a different story to everyone. He feeds a lie to get people to talk. He has a personal interest in keeping the dispute with Romancing the Bean going. It has to do with his quest for a certain type of Tootsie Rolls that you do not chew on. He said lots of negative things about every vendor on the block. Time for him to stay away. It’s a real side show watching merchants court Romancing the Bean and then slam or sabotage her. If I were her, I’d prefer the merchants who tell it like it is.

      • Crusty Barbie

        JUST CURIOUS?
Thee above mentioned “Tootsie Rolls” that you are writing about ?
Are they the Titty Pink variety?
If so,They must be finger licking good?
Licking ,nibbling and sucking sounds “Amorously Delightful !”
No wonder (Adrian ) came back for a visit !

  8. chad

Semi, I’m not sure you are up for doing this but if you are, could you recap the issues at play here regarding the 3400 block of Mags?

    • semichorus

I’m not really sure what they are!

Rents are going up; the old antique dealers are being squeezed out in preference to the boutiques; Kerry the coffeeslinger has longtime connections to the police and the neighbors think she gets freebies out of it.

MP has always been this way. I remember it going on in the early 70s. Everybody hated everyone, and no one was doing well enough to be happy.

Drama on the 3400 block is not the regular Magnolia swivels.
One business has intimidated all in one way or another.
The city overlooks all of her aggressive behavior and let her on the block by breaking parking codes in a major way.
The one guy who wouldn’t be bullied was accused of defecating inappropriately in her bathroom. She called it in two weeks later. The police person said she saw Mr. Persinger on the video. The city would not show Mr. Persinger the video so he could clear his name. At the police commission meeting they said, “This matter is still under investigation”. In other words, “Mr Persinger may have done the dirty deed in the bathroom”. I’ll guarantee one thing. There is no tape or the person on the tape is definitely not Mr. Persinger. So, not only did Romancing the Bean try to burn Mr. Persinger but, the city went out of their way to not clear him. The city denied being subpoenaed when there is proof that they were. The city cited every code of why they were unable to release the tape to Mr. Persinger. Is there even a tape? So much deceit going on. The city council and police commission continually blow off Mr. Nolan when he seeks answers. After all, this is just a merchant on Magnolia.
Why hasn’t Romancing the Bean made an announcement that they made a mistake? The city is digging a big hole on this one. Mr. Persinger is either on that tape or not. If there is no tape, Romancing the Bean needs to say so and the city needs to admit that by saying they would not release the tape to Mr. Persinger, that they definitely inferred that there is a tape. This is a very bad incident. This is not normal Magnolia rivalry.
No wonder lawyers are involved now. All the lies and cover up has been going on for a year.
