‘Sometimes I feel like, somebody’s waaaatching me….’

Seems like a lot of people might want to start singing that tune, after checking out this court depo from late August.

Wonder what they’re worried about– or trying to do? The city spent a lot of money on this useless fishing trip. Their only sneaks are in management.

EXAMINATION
BY MR. MICHAELS:

Q. Good morning, Mr. Rodriguez. We’re here to
resume your deposition.
A. Good morning.
Q. You are, again, under oath, and everything that
was explained at the outset of the deposition about the
procedure still applies.
Do you remember those instructions, or would you
like me to repeat them?
A. I remember them.
Q. Okay. Is there any reason that you cannot give
your most complete and accurate testimony today?
A. No, sir.
Q. Has there been any change in your medications
since the time that you previously told us what they
were?
A. No, sir.
Q. Are you familiar with a blog called
“Semichorus”?
A. Yes, sir.
JUDGE WAYNE: Semi- -
MR. MICHAELS: Semichorus; S-e-m-i-c-h-o-u-r- -
-o-r-u-s, I should say.
JUDGE WAYNE: Okay.
Q. BY MR. MICHAELS: Do you read that blog at all?
A. Yes.
Q. Do you read it regularly?
A. No.
Q. Do you know who operates the blog?
A. No.
Q. Have you had any communications with anyone -
strike that.
Have you posted any — any comments on that
blog?
A. No.
Q. Do you know of anyone who has posted any
comments on that blog?
A. Yes.
Q. Who?
A. I think -
Can I explain?
JUDGE WAYNE: Sure.
Q. BY MR. MICHAELS: Apparently so.
A. When I’ve — when I’ve looked on the blog, at
the times that I’ve looked at it, they use aliases. So I
don’t know who those people are. But in the past, there
have been people who have actually placed their names on
there.
Now, here’s the problem. I don’t know if when
they’ve placed their names — for instance, one time
somebody claiming to be Officer Kerry Schilf from the
Burbank Police Department placed a comment on there. But
I don’t know — there’s no way of knowing if whether or
not that was, in fact, Officer Kerry Schilf.
So I’ve seen names on there. I’ve actually seen
names being placed on there. But I believe aside from
Officer Kerry Schilf and Peter Musurlian — he’s one
of the — he’s like a press person for the City of
Burbank — I don’t believe anyone has ever used their
real name on there.
Q. Do you know who the real people are behind any
of the pseudonyms that post on that blog?
A. No, sir.
(Sotto voce discussion between Mr. Gresen and the
witness.)
Q. BY MR. MICHAELS: Okay. Do you know anything
about the person who posts on that blog under the name
“Going Nuts”?
A. No.
Q. Do you know anything about the person who posts
on that — on the blog under the name “Dixie Flyer”?
A. Again, on the blog itself, I have read on there
that people are asserting that “Dixie Flyer” is a
gentleman that frequents the city council by the name
of -
Q. Mike Nolan?
A. Yes, sir.
JUDGE WAYNE: I’m sorry. I didn’t hear it.
MR. MICHAELS: Mike Nolan.
JUDGE WAYNE: That makes sense. Mike Nolan, “Dixie
Flyer.”
Q. BY MR. MICHAELS: Okay. Have you ever spoken to
Mr. Nolan?
A. Never.
Q. All right. Do you know anything about a person
who goes — who posts on that blog under the name
“Masked”?
A. No.
Q. What about the name “Brian”?
A. No.
Q. “Burbanker”?
A. No.
Q. “Andrew”?
A. No.
Q. “Charles 11″?
A. No.
Q. Is “Charles 11″ a unit designation used within
the Burbank Police Department?
A. I don’t believe so.
Q. What about the name “Citizen Cane”?
A. No.
Q. Okay. And what about “Burbank Watchdog”?
A. No.
Q. Did you — did you see the link on that blog to
a videotape online of portions of Detective Parrinello’s
deposition?
A. Yes.
Q. Do you have in your personal possession, not
your attorney’s, a copy of the videotape of Detective
Parrinello’s deposition?
A. No.
Q. Have you ever had in your personal possession a
copy of Detective Parrinello’s videotape?
A. No.
Q. To your knowledge, have any of your coplaintiffs
had in their personal possession a copy of that
videotape?
A. No.
Q. To your knowledge, has anyone except for the
attorneys in this case had a — and whoever it is who
controls that — that YouTube site, had in their
possession a copy of Detective Parrinello’s videotape?
A. No.
Q. Do you have any information as to how Detective
Parrinello’s videotaped deposition came to be in the
possession of the person who posted it on the Internet?
A. No.
Q. To your knowledge, have any of your coplaintiffs
had any communications with the person who operates the
Semichorus blog?
A. No.
Q. When you saw the link to the videotape of
Detective Parrinello’s deposition, did you watch it?
A. Yes.
Q. Did you watch it in its entirety?
A. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen it in its
entirety.
Q. No. I mean the — what was on the — what was
on the Internet. Not the entire videotape of the
deposition, but the portion that was on — what was
posted on the Internet, part of which was Detective
Parrinello’s videotaped deposition and part of which was
an audio recording.
A. I’ve never seen the entire thing.
Q. The entire deposition or the entire posting on
the Internet?
A. The entire posting on the Internet.
Q. All right. How much of it did you watch?
A. Probably about five minutes of it.
Q. Okay. Did you take any steps to tell anyone
else about the posting?
A. Yes.
Q. About the — well, I’ll refer to the — to the
Internet videotape as the — as the — as the videotape
posting.
Okay?
A. Yes.
Q. Okay. What steps did you take to encourage
other — or I’m sorry.
What steps did you take to communicate to others
to — that they should watch that posting?
A. I told my attorneys.
Q. I’m not asking about your attorneys.
Anyone else?
A. I believe I’ve told — when I saw it — and I
can’t remember who it was that told me it was on there,
because I was called and told it was on there.
Q. You were called by someone other than your
attorneys?
A. Yes.
Q. Do you remember who?
A. I cannot.
Q. Okay.
A. And I know I told the other plaintiffs in the
case to look at it.
Q. And did you tell anyone else to look at it?
A. Not that I recollect.
Q. What about Steve Bellow?
A. I believe I did -
Q. Anyone else?
A. — tell Steve Bellow.
Anyone I would have told would have been law
enforcement related.
Q. Well, that’s a lot of people. You know a lot of
people in law enforcement.
So can you recall anyone else?
A. Let’s see. So it would have been, to the best
of my recollection, Cindy Guillen, Steve Karagiosian -
and I’m — I don’t want to speculate here because I’m not
sure I told every single one of these people. But that’s
to the best of my recollection.
Elfego Rodriguez, Cindy Guillen, Steve
Karagiosian, Jamal Childs, members of the Gunn family.
Q. Would those be Tina and Neil, Jr.?
A. Yes.
Q. Anyone else?
A. I believe I told Chris Topalovich, who is — who
is the half-brother of Neil Gunn. You’ve mentioned Steve
Bellow. I can’t recollect right now telling anybody
else. Oh, I told — I told Chip Rombach. He’s a retiree
from the police department.
Q. As is Steve Bellow?
A. Yes.
Q. Anyone else you can think of?
A. Not that comes to me now, sir.
Q. Why did you tell Mr. Rombach about it?
A. I thought he’d be interested. He’s been
following what’s been happening.
Q. How do you know that?
A. Because I speak to him.
Q. Okay. Do you speak to him about the case?
A. No. Not in particular about the case, but in
particular about what’s been going on on the blog and
things like that he’s asked me about.
Q. What can you recall of your discussions with
Mr. Rombach about what’s been going on on the blog?
A. A few things initially. There was some things
that were being very derogatory and lies that were being
told about me on the blog. And I — I can’t even
remember who it was last year who first alerted me to
that blog and that my name was being, you know, lambasted
on there. And for that reason -
Well, I — in answering your question, I’m
sorry, I can’t remember all the things I’ve discussed
with — with Chip Rombach regarding things on that blog.
Q. Do you remember what you discussed with him on
the subject of the posting — the video posting regarding
Detective Parrinello’s deposition?
A. That was simply it. You know, I told him, “Hey,
you might want to take a look at the blog and what’s on
there.”
He knew that I had stopped looking at it because
I just — I want to — I didn’t care to look at it
anymore. But somebody alerted me to that — to it being
on there. I can’t remember who that person was. It was
one of the people, I think, I believe I mentioned who
called me and told me. And — and I told these other
people.
Q. Okay. Now, with respect to Mr. Rombach, did -
did he have — did he communicate back -
Well, when you told him he might want to look at
it, did you do that by verbal communication, or did you
send him some sort of electronic, written communication?
A. No. Verbal communication.
Q. So was it in person or on the phone?
A. I can’t remember.
Q. Do you remember him saying anything about -
well, to the effect of, “Well, what is it? Why should I
look at that?”
A. I told him what it was.
Q. Okay. Did he ask you any questions?
A. Not that I remember.
Q. Did he ask you anything about — did he ask you
whether you had been present at the deposition?
A. I don’t — I don’t believe so. I don’t remember
whether he asked me that or not.
Q. Did he ask you anything about the audio
recording that purports to be of Detective Parrinello?
A. I believe he did.
Q. What did he ask you?
A. I believe there was some sort of speculation,
you know, in that conversation that Neil Gunn had
recorded that statement.
Q. Chip Rombach speculated that Neil Gunn had
recorded the conversation, or you did, or both of you?
A.I can’t remember.
Q. What else did you and he discuss about the -
Let me just define a term, if I might. Rather
than saying “the audiotape recording which purports to be
of Detective Parrinello” each time, can I just refer to
that as “the Parrinello recording,” and you’ll know what
I’m referring to?
A. Yes.
Q. Okay. Was there any other question about — or
discussion of the Parrinello recording with Mr. Rombach?
A. Not that I remember.
Q. Did you have any discussion of the Parrinello
recording with Steve Bellow?
A. No.
Q. Did you have any discussion of the Parrinello
recording with any of your coplaintiffs?
A. Not that I recall.
There is one other person.
Q. Yes.
A. Bill Taylor. I don’t know if I mentioned him
before.
Q. You did not. So thank you for adding that.
Did you have any discussion of the Parrinello
recording with him in the context of discussing the post?
A. No. Not that I remember.
Q. So you talked about the Internet post, which
included the deposition and the Parrinello recording,
with each of your coplaintiffs, but nobody raised the
subject of the Parrinello recording that was on the post;
is that correct?
A. No. I can’t remember whether they did or not.
Q. Okay. When you saw the post, had you ever heard
the Parrinello recording before?
A. No.
Q. So that was the first time that you heard it?
A. No. I’m sorry. I thought you were referring to
the deposition.
Q. No.
A. You’re talking about the actual recording?
Q. When I say “the Parrinello recording,” I’m
talking about that audio recording that purports to be
statements made by Mike Parrinello during a conversation
he had with you on April 15, 2009.
Do you know the — the recording I’m referring
to?
A. Yes.
Q. Okay. It is interspersed with the Parrinello
videotaped deposition segments on that Internet post;
right?
A. Correct.
Q. And you watched portions of that Internet post?
A. Correct.
Q. And you heard some of the Parrinello audio
recording?
A. Yes.

What Burbank was doing here was trying to use their civil attorney to perform a criminal-type interview about the bloggers they don’t like. They wanted Rodriguez to identify people under oath, which he wouldn’t be in the position of knowing about anyway.

How this factors into the discrimination lawsuits we can’t figure out. But Barlow and Co. can’t drag residents down there and interrogate them about their free speech (yet), or what they know, so they do the next best thing– which is to spend big taxpayer $$ to grill a guy who is suing them for something else and try to get him to name names in front of a judge.

Chilled, anyone?

This is ridiculous! Instead of wondering who put that post and made the video of Parinnelo, they should investigate WHY HE LIED and why he ever got promoted.

This just proves that the city is trying to stray away from the truth, that these people involved in law suits have brought forward.

The city is spending our tax payers money frivolously in attempt to continue their cover up.

Does anyone know how much has been spent? How much will be spent by the end of this? My guess is alot more they were hoping for. The longer the city keeps up their behavior the worst they look.

  2. Chad

Semi, I don’t mean to be pedantic but I think the lyrics go, “It always feels like somebody’s watching me….” I’ll check. Was that Jermaine (sp?) Jackson? (I’ve got way too much pop culture crap stuffed in the memory banks)

  3. Irwin Fletcher

Sounds like they are trying to find the mole that leaked confidential material- which I would expect them to do whether they are corrupt or not. It is nice to see that the city is officially aware of the importance of this blog- you’d never see them investigating the Leader for any leaks.

  4. Chad

Dude, I used the word “chilling” in an earlier post and Dixie slammed me. Watch out. Anyway, I’ve been deposed in Florida and Massachusetts and I know that each state has different rules for deposition. I know that in general, the rules for discovery and questioning are a lot looser than they are at trial. (Bill Clinton found that out.) What this line of questioning about this blog and the audio recording “purporting to be statements made by Mike Parrinello” has to do with the actual suit is beyond my limited imagination. This really gets my Irish up.

  5. Brian

Good morning to Dennis Barlow and the members of the City Attorneys office who are reading this. Also a warm greeting to Tim Stehr working at the Waste Dump in Palmdale. How ironic that a piece of trash like you, now secures a dump.

Its sad that you people running the great city of Burbank are spending tax payers money to try and find out who people are on this blog. Don’t get me wrong, I am honored that you are so flustered and upset by my postings and the postings of other concerned citizens of Burbank, but to grill Mr. Rodriguez is a waste of time. We are just upset citizens asking for change and something to be done about the corrupt people running the city.

And why only certain names did you ask about in the deposition of Mr. Rodriguez? What about some of the “pro city” and “pro council” posters that put things up on this blog? (ie Larintis and Easy Aces) You know, the posts allegedly made by the spouses of burbank councilmen/women or the posts allegedly put up by certain members of the BPD.

I have a great idea. If you guys are so worried about citizens of Burbank trying to save their city, by violating our 1st Amendment, then maybe its time to start doing some digging on you and finding out more about you guys. Its only fair right?

  6. Joe

Dixie is Mike Nolan. That is hilarious. What a bunch of losers. Hi Mike, you douche bag!

  7. BoB

Brain I couldn’t agree with you more! It seems that again I have said it once I have said it all along….”Follow the money!” They (BPD and BPOA and The City AKA: Council and its officials) want to find out who is speaking out ….concern citizens raising issues about the high amount of money spent all to cover the tracks of public servants…corruption at its very core?…..Hmm…look what happened at Bell! …hopefully that will occur here in this great city…and Brain do you know why dont ask about the pro city bloggers….because they’re part of mess…the trolls so to speak…its apparent this blog has them scared out of their minds!

  8. MAGSINBURBANK

This message is for officer DIRK and the rest of the BOPA Boys and their associates who keep making false allegations on this blog WITHOUT PROOF! I am on this blog because as a citizen, I met Sergeant Gunn sometime back and he was nothing but professional and nice. I then kept reading about more allegations from the BPOA Boys about all of the “Bad Apples” (Reinke) wrong doings even after his death, but still with NO PROOF!

I feel bad for him and his family, because even after he had past, the BPOA Boys and their cohorts kept making what has now come to appear as wishful thinking and false allegations. SHAME ON YOU!

So, you ALL may be too young for this, but this goes out to Mofford,Schilf, Dirk, Parrinello, Iriving and the rest of the BPOA Boys who keep blogging…”Where’s the Beef?”

  9. MAGSINBURBANK

LOS ANGELES -The mayor and ex-city manager of the Los Angeles suburb of Bell were among eight current and former city officials arrested Tuesday in a corruption scandal that authorities said cost the blue-collar city more than $5.5 million in excessive salaries and illegal personal loans.
The district attorney’s office said several former and current City Council members were taken into custody along with ex-city manager Robert Rizzo and Mayor Oscar Hernandez.
“This, needless to say, is corruption on steroids,” District Attorney Steve Cooley said at a news conference, standing next to a display of pictures of the suspects.

HMMM, I believe this investigation started in June 2010 and DA Cooley has already made several arrests.

When did the Porto’s investigation start? Parrinello? Irving? Dahlia? Gardiner? ANYBODY?
HOW ABOUT 2008? WHERE’S THE BEEF? WHERE’s the PROOF? SHAME ON YOU GUYS!

  10. BoB

Mags well said…I have met the same people that you speak of…I have nothing but respect for that man…he was sold down the river without a paddle…you’ re right mags these so called men have no shame, no respect for the dead or living!…call them for what they are…shameless indivduals with only one thing in mind…what about me….what about number one….for those of the BPD its one thing you should have learned at police 101…its about teamwork…not whats in it for me…follow the money…The LA County DA sure did..

  11. Lee

All I know is the BPOA, city defenders, and everyone else has been saying “wait and see.” I have been waiting and waiting and the only thing I keep seeing is city attorneys playing games, you tube lies, more lawsuits, and taxpayer money flying out the window.

It’s time for the AG, FBI, Secret Service, DA, Texas Ranger Chuck Norris and Outlaw Josey Wales to come in here and clean house!

    • Dirty Mary2

Too bad Cooley doesn’t show up here with arrest warrants as happened in Bell Tuesday. Where are they? Waiting to make sure they keep their 100% conviction rate? If a few arrests were made in Burbank, some others might follow when the rats start abandoning ship. While the percentage of success is important, they need to just start the process instead of letting this nonsensical abuse of the police powers, threats, and spending on litigation continue. These “threats” are really disgusting and only making residents and employees more angry.

  12. kit carson

The BPD Boys club should be ashamed about how Matthew Pavelka’s trial is being delayed, because of the credibility problem with the Dept. and those who have screwed up the case. That they have caused ,not just with the citizens of Burbank, but also with his Family. How can they justify their petty little problems with each other and look at Matthew’s family suffering, justice delayed is justice denied! Just stop playing CYA and man up, take responsibility and move on with life.

    • DixieFlyer

While the Leader and the “City Family” have let the months and years pass by, the sad fact that their unwillingness to DEAL effectively with the MESS has not been missed by those who contribute to this Blog.

While we haven’t dwelled uselessly with the unavoidable significance of ” tainted testiliers”, we paid our respects on the anniversary ot Matt’s tragic death.

  13. Masked

Misappropriation of Public funds that’s what they got the Bell Council on.
Maybe the LA County DA will look at the blank checks the Council is giving the CM and CA office to cover up wrong doing. Millions of dollars for what they won’t even look at the reports. I think this at least amounts to a conspiracy and cover up reading the depos.

    • Dirty Mary2

Well said, Masked. But I think there is a direct “gift of public funds” to the Cusamanos for at least $2Million, plus the costs to assemble other properties (newspapers reported $8Million), and demolition and clean up of the old police building site. All this and the Cusamanos wrote a check to the City for $100.00 but didn’t even bother to follow the plans for the project that was publicly approved.

This “gift” seems to qualify perfectly according to Mr. Golonske in his letter to the San Clemente City Council about a project in his beach town home away from home.

  14. Going Nuts

I love Cooley’s statement about Bell and their city council. “Failed to provide proper checks and balances” Does that sound familiar?

Sticking your head in the sand and bobbing for bad apples like Reinke, eyes wide shut like Jess, serving another drink to Stehr like Bric, and hiring the million dollar bionic attorney like Golon, is not going to be an excuse.

Not providing oversight to the city attorneys and their illegal cover-up will be the clincher. Especially, since the Wildan is perfect proof. I don’t mean the redacted version either. I hear an un-edited version is floating in the breeze like that feather in Forest Gump.

    Anonymous leters…what letters? Right Juli?

  15. Sherlock Holmes

I guess if there is one thing we learned from Tuesday’s Council meeting it’s that Dennis Barlow is in fact the one behind the Omar Rodriguez deposition and the questions about this blog and its posters. He admitted so to Dr. Gordon after Mike Nolan brought it up during Oral Communications. Speaking of Tuesday’s meeting, anybody else notice the weird look Mike Flad had on his face, like he was pre-occupied or distracted. He was also late to the meeting. It wasn’t the usual chipper Mike, we see and hear every Tuesday night. I wonder if the City of Bell arrests were making him a little uneasy. I imagine there are a lot of City Managers and City Councilmen around Southern California now scrambling to make sure their cities are “clean.” In Burbank’s case, that could be a problem, with all the lawsuits and allegations and investigations going on at the moment.

After reading some of the above comments, I decided to do some investigating. Believe it or not, Facebook is a very useful tool. You would be shocked at who in the City has a facebook page. Not that’s it illegal or anything, but curious as to what kind of pics and comments are on their pages? There is certainly a lot of people across the country getting fired from their jobs now, for things they put on their social media sites. Hope everything is kosher with Mike Parrinello’s page and Eric Rosoff’s page? You all know Rosoff, the officer at the center of all the police scandal. Why does a 45-year old Police Sgt have a facebook page anyways? Sort of creepy if you ask me. What does he need it for? Isn’t facebook for younger people? Isn’t the guy married? His wife is “Sweetheart” or “Sweetcakes” or whatever her nickname is in Julie Scott’s office? (I still can’t firgure out why people call her that)

Was roaming around City Hall and had several people tell me about the former Chief of Police, Tim Stehr and a good “friend” of his in Community Developement. Aparently Stehr isn’t well liked around City Hall anymore, so people are talking. Not sure what they mean by a “friend”

Going back on this blog to Sept 13, 2009, a post by Semichorus mentions that City Attorney Dennis Barlow is a “high ranking out-of-state Mormon elder.” I wonder if the members of the LDS Church know the REAL Dennis Barlow? or does he act one way around his friends and church members on the weekend, then is a lying and corrupt city official during the week? Maybe its time for the Burbank LDS members to find out for themselves and learn more about him.

    • semichorus

I wouldn’t expect too much from the LDS. He fits right in. I’m sure they love him.

Yeah, if I were these Burbankers I’d stay away from Facebook.

  16. Masked

I wonder who remolded Dave’s San Clemente digs? Maybe that’s where the money or gifts from developers have gone?
Let’s see he moved here without a pot to piss in now he owns a home in Burbank, apartments, and a beach house didn’t think an out of work consultant hack cleared that much.
Who knows what $100 dollar give a ways cost developers nowadays and what does he consult about?

  17. Everett

Looking forward to seeing everybody at the BPOA Golf Tournament tomorrow morning! Should be a great time. Nothing like a little bonding amongst officers who all hate eachother, during one of the biggest scandals in BPD history.

Mike Parrinello, Claudia Lasacco, all the BPOA Boys. Wow, should be fun to see everyone there together. Is the beer being provided for participants or is Henry Garay making a run to Costco?

Wonder if Mike Fladd will crawl out of his office and show up, or will he send his errand-boy Justin Hess instead? Better yet will Tim Stehr dare show his face? If he does, you know Parrinello and Ryburn will be there to kiss his ass and follow him around like lost puppies. Just like old times.

Where exactly is the money that is raised going from this Golf Tournament? Is it to help the officers? Is it to pay for the defense fees of wrongfully accused officers? Is it to pay for the tacos at Parrinello’s backyard party? Is it to pay for upgraded rooms in Vegas and lap dances for the Baker to Vegas crew? Or is it to fund the BPOA softball and basketball teams?

I would like to see the financial books of the BPOA and where money is actually going to? Better yet, Ill leave that to the Feds to handle.

Good luck to all golfers in the morning. Make sure you smile for the camera……

    • MAGSINBURBANK

WOW! Everett sounds like you have it right and here is why.

CONSPIRACY: “When two or more persons conspire to falsely and maliciously indict another for any crime, or to procure another to be charged or arrested for any crime.”

SOUND FAMILIAR? Remember the Parinello taped interview? Didn’t he and Irving go to Chief Stehr and threaten him unless he investigated the so-called “Bad Apples” (Reinke)? Didn’t Dahlia and Allen change their stories and lie after this meeting with Chief Stehr? I hope the FBI is investgating the City Mananger, the City Council and the BPOA Board, because this sounds more and more like BELL!

It looks like the golf tournament proceeds will be going to go for their defense!

    • Going Nuts

You nailed it. If I was on the BPOA Board, I would ask myself…Did I get away with it?

The “Good Apples” need their rest. Like the Gladiator said to the dirty Cesar,”The time for honoring yourselves will soon be over.”

  18. Mark

Are there any police officers patrolling the city of Burbank today?

I know its a VERY small day shift on Friday, but I just spent over an hour driving through beats A-D on the hill and have seen 0 squad cars! I then drove up and down Burbank Blvd, Victory Blvd, Magnolia, Verdugo, Alameda and then back down San Fernando Blvd and finally up Glenoaks to the Glendale border. I saw a Glendale unit by Trader Joes. Where are the police officers in Burbank?

They better not be drinking up at DeBell and playing golf with the rest of the department

  19. BoB

Nuts and Mags…You’re both right!…but the true question still remains when will the DA and FEDs stop kicking this one around and get to what we already know…the conspiracy at the top with the garbage man…and the rest of the politicos at the city that have buried the “bad apples.” The rest of them are playing golf..and drinking on our dime….too bad no pictures were snap of the games they played

  20. DixieFlyer

On the street in Los Angeles, West Sixth Street, additional allegations re: excessive use of force, while administering taser to subject.

General comments about “not enough Special Agents to go around” due to “flurry of allegations in every berg in So Cal.”

Specific reference to case filed last week.

    Civil Rights matter involving “Preston(?)”

Apparently, a new filing involving “new” attorney.

More next week as it’s Friday, sorry.

  21. John Brady

Hi I am back from Asia!!

Let me repeat the old joke about how you could never ever find out my identity from my blog name because it is steeped in so much cultural cross reference and poetry and….D’oh!!

First off over the past few months I have really found out how much certain people got their knickers in a twist about me saying about the chief “His job is on the line.” or something like that.

In April 2009 there was a secret investigation started into the BPD. I knew nothing of that. But others did.

They wailed and ranted about how could I say such a thing. Well, it was an observation from my experience as an executive of a multi million-dollar company with offices in Hollywood and New York City. (NYC!!!) Yep!

Chief Tim Stehr did not take offense to it. He told me. He has never personally lied to me. It was just politics.

Now I see there was a lot of stuff going on about the chief’s position. That is the reason why I was asked so much about “Who are your sources??!!” To which I gave really confusing non-sequiter answers because I could not figure out the agenda of those asking me those questions.

It’s like the old story of the rookie who destroyed a lot of patrol cars. The management of the BPD was willing to fire him until someone came up with the bright idea of taking the car away from him and putting him on mall patrol. Good cop bad with cars. Situation solved.

Tim was a guy with a lot of car wrecks showing up in his parking space and people were beginning to ask, “who is going to pay the towing fees?” Simple management observation. I like Tim he has always been nice to me. But business is business.

I also noticed someone said I said bizarre things. Well maybe he is referring to the infamous “wonderful campaign” against me statement. I specifically used “wonderful” because the whole thing left me in “wonderment”. It is a lot better word than anger. I still “wonder” about many things and why, some people, moved in a way that was unexpected. Like wack a mole. They just turned up in a different position than I expected. Strange.

Either that or the poster didn’t get an inside joke. I do that a lot. Or, once again, he has met me and I said a non-sequiter to a question that was confusing or of suspect agenda. It’s an old trick but it works.

Oh and speaking of old tricks I wish to correct one impression. I was not denied ride along because I was on probation. (Which still is a little in question… that is why I didn’t think I was till the first of May 2009 … long story…was I still on probation or not??? …. More to follow) I was denied ride along because I did not pass a background check. Now it was never stated why I never passed the BG check, though I passed it before, but it leaves the implication that I am an imminent danger to the police officer and to the community at large. Just go to any Police Department qualifications for ride along and you will see that is the primary reason for BG checks.

I, of course, diffused this old political trick by saying in my speech, which had the general topic of “I will not run from a challenge I will not run from my past blah blah “ “Put me in a K-9 unit. I will not run…very far.”

That was fun. Although I was honored to be the subject of such a classic political trick. I really was!!

What I did know was that something was afoot in the BPD. We had problems and that maybe I could be a voice that could help. I did not expect the problems we turned out to have had. I always wanted to fight for a safe, secure, working place for our officers. I walked into a storm. I wish my cards could have been different in my hand, so I might have played them better, but they weren’t. That’s politics.
