We got tipped off yesterday that the new BPD management has started walking out people from the premises. Apparently their so-called “outside” investigation is complete, and as we predicted a few months ago, it was merely a fishing expedition that was being used as pretext to discover who the troublemakers were.
This mass firing revolves around the Portos mess. Among the names we’ve heard mentioned are:
Omar Rodriguez (served)
Neil Gunn (Deceased)
Armen Dermenjian
Bill Taylor
Edgar Penaranda
Steve Karagosian
Elfuego Rodriguez (served)
Mike Reyes (served)
Nick Nichols (served)
Tom Perez (trainee – served)
Fernando Munoz
Chris Canales
John Murphy (retired)
Angelo Dahlia (retired – pending)
Jose Duran
Chris Robarts
Not all of these individuals will end up getting canned. Some are friends and cohorts, some witnesses, and it will be interesting to see who makes the final list. A few people who were knee-deep in Portos are being given a free pass (reportedly), and we’ll soon know who they are.
Strangely, this is all occurring before the truly independent law enforcement investigations are complete. The Sheriff’s passed on Burbank a few months ago because of the mass confusion, and the FBI isn’t in yet. More soon.

Operation “Bad Apples” appears to be in full swing. It will be very interesting who actually gets the axe.
I am troubled by the fact that it appears that the “No stone unturned” comment by Flad seem to be a complete sham. No names of suspect officers from the numerous allegations made about misconduct by several officers and civilians. All those anonymous letters just disregarded?
I hear the BPOA and friends (among them the guy who pulled the gun on another officer) have been running around meeting at Starbucks and some local Italian dining spots. If you listen hard enough, you can hear Officer Schilf walking the halls of the station saying “Look where all the people are who tried to screw me”. Remember he is the one Neil Gunn Sr reported for “excessive force” during the well reported taser incident.
Tonight the barbeque is on at Parrinello’s house for the celebration. Sound like a rumor, unfortunately its true.
I bet the ex-BPOA burglars will show up with the beer! BYOB (bring your own burglar).
You forgot JJ will be there with a camera and tri-pod to video tape the event.
I forget– are tripods legal or not? It keeps changing….
Tripods are classified as “banned” just like semi automatic weapons in Burbank.
So anyone stupid enough to think the only problem at Burbank PD is an incident at Portos ?
That’s what those in charge want us to believe but hey how about all the other things that have gone on at the PD ?
The names of some major players are missing here so do those names start to come up when it goes from being fired to being arrested and placed into hand cuffs for booking ?
When that occurs will there be some real lynch-ings ? Inquiring minds wanna know .
Yes, some big names are missing– for now at least. These are the Portos-related names.
big names that are portos related are also missing here.
Who put LYNCH into his new position—
Parking Lot Attendant??
What about his assistant–ROSOFF?
Just what was Puglezi and the rest of the fat cats in command doing while everything went down ?
Time for the city manager and stehr to get dragged under a bright light in some FBI basement for heavy questions.
The city council ? indictments for Golonski and let Bric, Reinke and Talamantes retire in disgrace.
Once the portos smoke screen is out of the way the real dirt that the city is guilty of will start to come out.
I wonder if the city council will start wearing safety glasses to potect their eyes from the storm that’s on the way?
The best of the names is yet to come folks.
Why is Captain Lowers hanging around after her retirement ? What exactly is she fixing or tampering with ?
Lowers was brought back to help out with the animal shelter when Jette got caught sexually harrassing multiple employees. She then helped cover up the potential scandal that followed with Lt Jette and the “getaway ” items (13,000, gemstones, photos, surveillance docs, etc..) that they found in his locker.
Lowers also was the Captain in charge of SED and Persons when the Portos investigation went south. JJ Puglisi (internal affairs) conducted the first Portos investigation that cleared everybody. Dermenjian was the supervisor at all of the operations involving Portos (He approved all reports). Lowers, JJ, Dermenjian, Flad and Stehr all now blame then Deputy Chief Taylor for everything. ??? Oh and don’t forget the evil Rodriguez who was there one day during the entire investigation which lasted months. Like Leonidas said “get rid of Rodriguez and everything is fixed”??? I bet Leo is bringing the hotdogs to the BPOA boys-beque.
Lowers is also infamous for the computer system that took her years to implement and now is a total loss to taxpayers.
I would say she has a pretty good track record as far as leadership in Burbank.
I will now go away. I owe a deep and sincere apology to OUTFLANK. You knew alot and were 100% correct when you said we would be singing “farewell to thee” I wish I could say good job, but this is truely a dark day for the City of Burbank. Semi, listen to OUTFLANK he/she really knows what is going on. No propaganda from OUTFLANK, just the facts. I have now shamefully retired from this blog as I have been put in my place.
It’s hard to trust what the city is doing now for two reasons. First it took way to long to do it and second it’s being done by the same people who did everything else that was wrong.
Does the city take so long to investigate citizens before they solve the crime and send them off to jail ? Don’t think so.
Not a word in the Leader today, not even 1 letter to the editor on the forum page.
I read the Leader and from that paper I would not know anything unusual is happening in Burbank. Isn’t everything just fine here ?
That paper is pathetic.
If all you do is read the Burbank newspaper you are beyond clueless about Burbank and everything that goes on here. They don’t report the news they hide the news for sure. When is the last time so many cops were fired in Burbank ? Must happen everyday for it not to be big news.
Mike Gatto is endorsed for state assembly by Councilman Golonski. You want to know why ? Watch this video and see who Mike Gattor hangs out with and how he discusses issues.
http://www.youtube.com/user/301AD#p/u/11/cLS61TC6HNc
I’ll be doing an Assembly post real soon.
Thanks for that video. Very revealing just watching Gatto.
I look at the disaster up in Sacramento and the police mess here and the one thing I don’t want is more of the good ol’ boys.
I looked at Gatto and all I had to see is the endorsement by Golonski. Why would Golonski endorse him ? Only one reason I know is that he is dumber than dirt and controlled by Golonski.
I have had enough of the Golonski candidates that sit there and let everything fall apart while they do their hair and their nails.
I won’t be voting for Gatto.
This is amazing about the people who want to be elected to Sacramento for Burbank. Ok so one got arrested for using guns and the other one is good friends with him ? I got this emailed from a friend and wow I think everybody should know about this stuff. We sure don’t need these two guys running our lives up in Sacramento.
Gatto looks and sounds like Mayor Antonio in Los Angeles. This guy wants to represent Burbank ?
Does he know where Burbank is located ? He called Sacramento a state when he was answering a question. Someone tell the guy that California is the state and Sacramento is the capital.
Gatto couldn’t stop and answer a few questions for the guy with the camera ? Why not ? What does Gatto have to hide ?
Don’t vote for the rat, i won’t after watching him run from the camera like that.
Gatto looks like a pushy used-car salesman, and his face looks like a confused kid. Maybe he should spend a few more years in local politics before playing with the big boys.
I voted for this guy in the primary election and now have realized I made a mistake. His vote on SB250 was a joke! He did not know what the facts were only went along with the “good ol’ boys!” If he can’t get informed then who needs him?
Dear Nan & Beth,
Sorry to have to agree with you, both.
The LEADER has dropped the ball, again.
In doing so, they have allowed City Hall to play the game of STALL, STALL and STALL some more.
The Assembly race is more important than the future of our Police Department and our CITY!!
The People of Burbank have ALREADY paid dearly,
and we will continue to pay for some time.
Can’t we at least be informed of PUBLIC DEVELOPMENTS??
Let me be clear, my complaint is with the management of the LEADER–not the Reporter’s.
City Hall is playing the LEADER like a piano.
Now is the time for ANJE and JESS to shine.
Show us that your sub committee is worth anyone’s breath. Prove that you want to do the Public’s business in Public.
“SPLAIN IT TO US” Where is the announcement of the Review of the long awaited Investigation?
They took credit for commencing it, how about clearly announcing SOME results.
Where is the famous ANJE “Readers Digest” ‘version?
We don’t even have a real newspaper in Burbank at all. The Burbank Leader is more like a city press release than a newspaper. That’s why I stopped subscribing to it.
In other cities they fire officers for having sex on duty. In Burbank, we make them chief and then a high paid consultant.

Go figure?
Lee it’s Burbank. Hey how about the guy who runs around aiming his gun at people running for state assembly ? I bet a fw notorious members of our council vote for him like maybe Golonski lol what a jerk that guy is.
